What shifts did covid-19 year 2020 bring to the labour market in Europe?

This article discusses the evolution of key labour market indicators in EU-27 countries between 2019 and 2020, i.e. year before covid-19 crisis broke out which it impacted economy heavily. Whereas earlier studies have dealt with unemployment often country by country, this focuses on describing as well inactivity across European countries. It appears that Southern countries, particular, recorded increases inactivity, while Baltic States experienced higher growth unemployment. In many other remained remarkably stable despite covid-19. The comparison bears similarities to 2009, when Great Recession knocked back economy.
